The sun slowly rose above the horizon and it became quickly to bright to do some more long exposures at the harbor and hoping for some nice autumn-ish colours, I decided to continue photographing at a nearby forest.
It’s already late in autumn up here though, and most of the golden leaves are already down and I opted for working with the panning technique to make the best out of this moment. Every now and then I work with this technique, and I find it quite refreshing and enjoying.
As with many long exposures the results are sometimes surprising and especially when panning through the forest, not really predictable. But already after a few photographs I get some nice frames I thought that I can work with. I find the streaks, created by the branches of the trees, very interesting.
Hello Sven,
this is a very nice and interesting “panning-photo”. I also tried this technique this summer – but also with exposure times up to 10 seconds. You can find some results in my blog: http://www.martin-huelle.de/blog/?p=681

Hi Martin,
thanks a lot for your comment. It’s fun isn’t it? I think it’s sometimes very inspiring to use this technique and focus on a little bit more impressionistic approach.
Just looked through your post. Great images. The field is particularly nice.
Wow Sven, I really like this. Might just do a bit of experimentation myself :-)
Thanks a lot John.
This is indeed a interesting and fun technique. Somehow helps sometimes to clear the brain a little.
